The Sustainable Foods Summit is a series of summits that focuses on the
leading issues the food industry faces concerning sustainability and eco-labels
such as Organic, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance, etc.
The seventh
edition of this executive summit will take place in San
Francisco on 22-23rd January 2013 and explores new horizons for sustainability for
eco-labels. Focal themes of this new edition are food security & waste, marketing
best-practices and new technologies.
A third of food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted, however how
can supply chains become more efficient? What is the role of distribution &
logistics and packaging? What can be done at production and retail level?
Topics on the summit agenda include measuring environmental footprints,
sustainable sourcing, innovating from waste, adding social value to foods,
advances in mobile communications, e-tailing potential, packaging innovations,
and food authentication tools. As in previous editions, case studies will be
given of companies at the cutting edge of sustainability initiatives.
Organized by Organic Monitor,
the summit will bring together key stake-holders in the food industry and
debate these major issues in a high-level forum.
