Stay tuned for straw bale bed construction!

Just as we step from Spring's starting-line, the month of March has us feeling winded already - but surely satisfied.  This week marks the culmination of our initial Comprehensive Organic Gardener (COG) course, as well as most of our early spring plantings.  We've been lucky to host another awesome group of students this season, replete with two beautiful, rainbow draped Saturdays in the garden.  From composting to seed-sowing, to bed-preparation and season extension, these weeks of early Spring represent a valuable, and very real connection between the demonstration garden and our classes.  As a teacher, I am always energized by the opportunity to plug people into the seasonal surge of activity, and to have the examples on hand that so smoothly transform words, concepts, and ideas into tangible ah-ha moments.  Some of the most common questions we encounter this time of year involve record keeping - from planning our rotations, seed-sowing and transplanting, to maintaining a garden journal.   For some accessible planning tools, please visit the Tilth Toolshed to download copies of your own. Enjoy this weeks' slide-show, and don't hesitate to contact us with questions, comments, or inspirations.
