"FORAGE AND PASTURE MANAGEMENT"
This will be a 10-week Forages Course in the Willamette Valley on Wednesday evenings, beginning on March 3. We will meet at the Fisher Farm & Lawn Company building just north of Harrisburg on 99E. Registration for the first person on a ranch is $130. Additional family members are only $80 (= a 40% discount). The course is open to everyone, at any level of experience, with any species of livestock -- beef cattle, dairy, horses, sheep, goats, llamas, alpacas, etc -- and also anyone else in agriculture, including folks who work in feed stores, seed companies, veterinary clinics, and government agencies. They just need to be interested in learning about forages.
We cover a broad range of topics, including quite a bit about soil fertility, fertilizers, and livestock nutrition. In addition, there will be some field visits and other events and question-answer sessions. With the current economy, the information in this course will be exceptionally timely and practical. This course will attract folks from all around the Valley. Many folks pool rides if they come from any distance. Since classes occur in the evenings, people can bring their own suppers. We'll have coffee and a microwave available.
