Have you ever wondered what it’s like for a farmer to become certified organic? Or the efforts behind developing the organic market to meet the demand of bringing organic products to your table?
On Tuesday May 13th, we’ll talk organics with a emphasis on the transition period and the challenges it presents to both producers and buyers. Our panel includes Education Director of Oregon Tilth, Sarah Brown, who will talk about Tilth’s newly launched Farmer Transition Network, among other things. Sarah is also a farmer and co-operates Diggin’ Roots Farm in Molalla. We will also be joined by farmer Jim Bronec of Praying Mantis Farm, a 50 acre certified organic vegetable and seed operation in Canby; and James Henderson, Farmer Liaison for Hummingbird Wholesale, a Eugene- based company that emphasizes buying direct from farmers and incorporates ecological and social justice into all aspects of their business.
