Please join us for a peer learning session Wednesday, June 11 at the beautiful Portland Japanese Gardens. We will have a tour led by Heike Edossa, Gardener and an OLCP. Some topics highlighted will include: an organic fertilizer and traditional tool demo discussion, troubleshooting winter damage on plants, managing the garden's unique ground cover and how best to deal with dry shade and compacted soils under trees. We'll also look at the challenges of managing a public space with a 50 year history and looking ahead another 50 years.

Date: Wednesday, June 11

Time: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

Where: Meet at the Garden House, directly next to the Main Entrance.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED: Up to 15 professionals are welcome. To attend this peer learning session, please send an email to colleen@tilth.org to RSVP. If you find you are unable to attend after registering, kindly let me know so I can inform the wait list.

TRANSPORTATION & PARKING

1) If driving, you will have to park in Washington Park, look for signs for the garden and pay for parking. Consider carpooling.

2) By Mass Transit:

On weekdays only, the Garden is served by TriMet bus #63 which connects to the MAX stations at the Oregon Zoo and JELD-WEN Field.

From  Memorial Day through Labor Day, frequent TriMet shuttle service connects the Garden and the MAX Light Rail station at the Oregon Zoo.

For those who don’t mind a walk—every day, the frequent-service buses #15-NW 23rd and #20-Burnside both stop at NW 23rd & Burnside, which is about 1 mile away uphill through Washington Park.
