The 2013 Justice Begins with Seeds Conference is being held in Seattle, Wash. this year. It’s a fitting location, as Washington State is at the center of the country’s next key GMO labeling battle. Anti-GMO activists are working feverishly throughout the entire state to pass I-522, Washington’s GMO labeling initiative, on Nov. 5.

This year’s conference brings together many of the GMO movement’s heroes, including Dr. Vandana Shiva, Wenonah Hauter, Devon Peña, Ignacio Chapela, Ann Lopez, Jeffrey Smith, David Bacon, Phil Bereano, and Theo Ferguson.

This annual conference is the largest gathering in the U.S. focused on educating and creating awareness about the implications of GMO seeds. It’s an international platform from which to share, learn and launch campaigns in support of a GMO-free food supply.

Attendees will hear from more than 60 speakers, including farmers, activists, business owners, scientists and faith leaders, who will examine the impact of GMO seeds on health, social justice and  environment and corporate consolidation, in local to global contexts.
