Dear growers: You are invited to participate in a one-day food safety and traceability workshop at the North Willamette Research and Extension Center (NWREC) in Aurora, OR on Nov. 9th, 2010. This workshop will not only provide growers in the produce industry on the current produce traceability initiative (PTI) and its future implementation, but also give important updates on the recent US Food Safety and Modernization Act that has been working through US Congress and Senate and its implication to produce industry.

You will hear from national speakers such as Jennifer McEntire, from the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), about the FDA report on current US produce tracking systems. Most importantly, you will be given a great opportunity to address or discuss your industrial concerns for produce traceability systems and to identify needs areas with the university researchers and industrial solution providers to help design and conduct feasibility study on future traceability systems for specialty crop industries.

This one day workshop is sponsored by the Food Innovation Center and the NWREC of Oregon State University, and supported by a 2010 USDA Specialty Crop Planning Grant. It is a free registration and lunch is provided. Please register as soon as possible to reserve your space today as there will only be 50 spaces available for produce growers, packers/processors, distributors/retailers/wholesalers from four states of Oregon, Washington, California, and Arizona.

View the conference agenda.   For registration simply email with your contact information including the participant's name, Company, address, and phone number. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Qingyue Ling of the Food Innovation Center at 503-872-6652 or through e-mail at q.ling@oregonstate.edu.   We hope to see you there.
