Comments to NOSB
The Board makes recommendations to the National Organic Program (NOP) as to whether a substance should be allowed or prohibited in organic production or handling, assists in the development of standards for substances to be used in organic production, and advises the Secretary of Agriculture regarding other aspects of implementation of the Organic Farming Production Act (OFPA).
The NOSB meeting is April 26-29, 2011 (agenda). Comments can be made to the NOSB (written comments due by April 10th). Recommendations by the NOSB include:
- Material Review Organizations - Directly affects who conducts material reviews under the NOP.
- Magnesium sulfate
- Streptomycin & Tetracycline
- Sodium Nitrate (Chilean Nitrate)
- Corn Steep Liquor
- Pheromones
- Sodium Silicate
- Mulches and Compost Feedstocks
