Do You Know Your Farmer?

US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack inaugurated the new blog pages of the "Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food" Initiative.

US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack yesterday inaugurated the new blog pages of the "Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food" Initiative.

The blog post is here: http://kyf.blogs.usda.gov/2010/07/14/do-you-know-your-farmer/

In USDA's press release, Secretary Vilsack is quoted about the new blog,

"This showcase will serve as a hub of ideas, local success stories, and USDA resources that showcase and strengthen the link between local production and local consumption that benefits producers of all sizes."

So keep an eye on the new blog space. It's in the "Ideas and Stories" tab of the Know Your Farmer home page.

USDA is looking for suggestions about local/regional food systems stories and issues to showcase.  You can email your thoughts to <KnowYourFarmer@usda.gov>
