FTC Releases Final 'Green' Marketing Guides
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) yesterday announced final revisions to its ‘green’ marketing guides, which include new guidance on marketers’ use of product certifications and seals of approval, renewable energy claims, renewable material claims, and carbon offset claims.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) yesterday announced final revisions to its ‘green’ marketing guides, which include new guidance on marketers’ use of product certifications and seals of approval, renewable energy claims, renewable material claims, and carbon offset claims. The guides do not address the use of the terms “sustainable,” “natural,” and organic.” Concerning organic claims, FTC noted that these are already covered by federal law under USDA’s National Organic Program.
