The FDA was required to respond to the petition by March 27. It took less than 180 days to accumulate the record number of comments. Meanwhile, a new poll from the campaign shows that support of labeling crosses political party lines with 93 percent of Democrats, 90 percent of Independents and 89 percent of Republicans in favor of GMO labeling. The study also revealed that support for labeling is robust and arguments against it have little sway.
