| The USDA organic regulations require that packaged products include a statement similar to, "certified organic by ***" below the information identifying the product's handler or distributor. Due to inconsistent NOP correspondence and training resources, the NOP granted a transition period for the correct placement this statement on September 12, 2012. In response to feedback from certifying agents and operations, the NOP has updated PM 12-2 to provide increased flexibility:
