Oregon Tilth Files Comments on NOSB Recommendations

Oregon Tilth submitted comments on many of the items and recommendations that the National Organic Standards Board will be discussing at their meeting in 2 weeks.

Many organic certification issues will be discussed and voted on at the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) meeting. The meeting will be held in Woodland, CA April 26-29th, 2010.  This is the first time in many years the meeting will be held on the west coast.

Oregon Tilth staff has deliberated hard and held many meetings and discussion groups in order to submit comments of information and support to several of the issues the Board will be discussing at this meeting.  Below is a list of a few of these topics.

  • Materials Classification - a long time consideration on determining agriculture vs. non-agriculture
  • Development of a USDA seal to be used on Made with Organic products
  • Methionine in livestock feed
  • Apiculture Standards
  • Greenhouse Standards
