Organic papayas and young coconut are on their way to North America
Patagonia Orchards LLC is expanding their tropical mix to bring certified organic papaya and coconut from El Cayacalito in Mexico into the North American market. The new items introduced will be available for shipping beginning May of this year, and include Sunset Papayas, Maridol Papayas, Young (sweet) coconuts, and mature coconuts.
Rio Rico, Arizona - May 9, 2011 -Patagonia Orchards LLC is expanding their tropical mix to bring certified organic papaya and coconut from El Cayacalito in Mexico into the North American market. The new items introduced will be available for shipping beginning May of this year, and include Sunset Papayas, Maridol Papayas, Young (sweet) coconuts, and mature coconuts. Development of the papaya groves were a joint project by Patagonia Orchards and El Cayacalito, planted during the month of August in the Mexican state of Guerrero, just south of Acapulco. All of this fruit is certified organic and will be available on a year round basis, joining the current Patagonia Orchards tropical line-up of Gold Pineapple, mangoes, and Persian limes.
The Sunset papaya is a Hawaiian (solo) variety. The flesh and skin is orange to reddish in color; the fruit is pear-shaped and small-sized (14-15 oz.), with a very sweet flavor; packed in 10 lb. cartons.
The Traditional Mexican Maridol Papaya will be packed and shipped in 35 lb. cartons as a 9,10, or 11 count.
The young coconuts will be shipped as a 4, 5 or 6 count in a one layer flat.
The mature coconuts will be shipped as a 4, 5 or 6 count in a 10 lb. one layer flat.
All products will be bar coded.
This is the first time in the history of the organic industry that certified organic papaya, certified organic coconut, and certified organic Persian limes have been grown in one family-owned operation and offered at a single shipping location in the USA.

El Cayacalito is a 50 acre farm owned by three brothers, Estanislao Alonso Ruiz, Edgar Alonso Ruiz, and Felix Alsonso Ruiz. This farm is located on the Pacific a few minutes South of Acapulco. El Cayacalito has been a certified organic farm for several years. The organic coconut grove has been a part of their farm landscape for over a decade, and the papayas trees were planted in partnership with Patagonia Orchards in September.
