USDA releases a notice on ruminant slaughter stock provisions
The notice regards the access to pasture rule
The USDA issued a Federal Register notice on the ruminant stock provision of the access to pasture rule on May 10. The notice details that the NOP will not take further action to amend the provision on ruminant slaughter stock under NOP regulations. Also, operations certified as of Feb. 17, 2010 need to be in full compliance with the rule, including provisions on ruminant slaughter stock, by June 17, 2011. New organic livestock operations must already be in full compliance.
