Washington State University Oregon Organic Crop Acreage Report

As outlined in WSU's 2008 Oregon Organic Crop Acreage report, Oregon has seen a huge increase in certified organic crop acreage.

Washington State University has now finished and published their 2008 Oregon Organic Crop Acreage report and the findings are incredible! Statistics show that there are 2208 certified organic acres in the state of Oregon, which is a whopping 39% increase from 2007 to 2008. Coincidentally, Oregon Tilth certifies 66% of known acreage and 85% of known farms in Oregon.

Organic acreage in Oregon is dominated by forage crops, but vegetables, fruits and grains are important, as well. Additional information, figures and graphs have been posted on-line at the following link: http://csanr.wsu.edu/Organic/OrganicStats.htm .
