Farm Viability: Equipment for Mechanical Cultivation

March 5, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Free

Weed management is often cited as the top production challenge in organic systems. Organic growers primarily manage weeds with soil disturbance, which can be counterproductive to soil-health. Join us for a virtual field day looking at new tools that cause less soil disturbance.

Sam Hitchcock Tilton will also discuss management techniques that can reduce the need for later mechanical weed control. Attendees will learn about the diversity of cultivation equipment available to producers and their advantages/disadvantages; including optimizing older equipment and a summary of newer options.

Speaker:
Sam Hitchcock Tilton, Landscape/Horticulture Instructor, Lakeshore Technical College, Cleveland, WI

This webinar is presented in partnership with the USDA NRCS Science and Technology.
