Poultry Farmer Workshop: Disease Prevention and Welfare

Join Dr. Maurice Pitesky at the UC Davis campus to connect with other beginning farmers and learn from speakers! Workshops are $15/day with light refreshments provide. Please note that car parking on campus is $9 for a daily permit.

If you are unable to join in person, consider signing up for the webinar version of the course for $5/day. You will be provided a link to join us live and participate via a Zoom Video Conference.

Disease Prevention & Egg Quality Assurance Plan ( Dr. Mark Bland ):
This talk will focus on methods of mitigating risk in free-range and pastured poultry production with a focus on biosecurity, vaccination and husbandry, as well as go over making egg quality assurance plans. Dr. Mark Bland is a commercial poultry veterinarian with Cutler Associates International who is based in Sonoma California.

Pastured Poultry Welfare (Dr. Richard Blatchford):
This talk will focus on the welfare considerations of raising poultry on pasture or free-ranged systems. Dr. Richard Blatchford is a faculty member at the UC Davis Department of Animal Science and UC Cooperative Extension Assistant Poultry Specialist.
