Rubber Boots Workshop Series- Fermenting Whole Grain Feeds: Better Health, No Waste
September 27 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Scratch and Peck Feeds is hosting The Rubber Boots Workshop Series, a lineup of farmer-to-farmer educational events where both new and seasoned farmers share knowledge. The goal of the workshops is to help farmers overcome operating obstacles, learn best practices, and be successful feeding their animals wholesome organic food. The workshops will be presented by farmers who are using organic whole grains and feeds in innovative ways and have developed farming efficiencies.
Farmer Matt of Foothills Farm is a mastermind of fermenting feeds. Join him on his farm as he shows you the no fuss, no muss way to ferment feed for your flock. Matt’s 100-acre farm has been in his family since 1946 and four generations have lived and worked on the land. He is a farming jack-of-all-trades — in addition to raising over 800 chickens on fermented Scratch and Peck feed, he also breeds horses and goats, and grows produce for farmers markets, CSA boxes, and the food bank. Foothills Farm is proof that with a little creativity, fermentation at any scale is possible.
