Environmental Benefits of Organic Agriculture: Soil

August 27, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join this webinar to learn about the benefits of organic farming practices to soil.

Soil building practices such as crop rotations, cover crops, and organic fertilizers are central to organic practices. These practices replenish soil organic matter, feed soil life, reduce erosion, improve soil structure, and enhance nutrient cycling and water retention. This session will present scientific research examining the benefits of organic farming practices to soil.

This webinar is presented by USDA NRCS Science and Technology. It is the third in a four-part series exploring the environmental benefits of organic agriculture. Contact Ben Bowell, Organic Specialist, for more information about this webinar.

Presenters: Michel Cavigelli, Soil Scientist, USDA Agricultural Research Service; Michelle Wander, Director of the Agoecology and Sustainable Agriculture Program, University of Illinois
