SUMMARY
The Technical Specialist serves as a technical expert in the regulations, policies, and application for each of the certification scopes that OTCO administers. The Technical Specialist works to support the certification services by researching and resolving technical questions, providing training, and developing technical resources. The Technical Specialist engages in investigation and resolving contentious certification issues. The Technical Specialist works with the Quality and Accreditation department and appropriate staff to implement the goals of the accreditation and certification programs to ensure a high level of quality, accuracy, and integrity in OTCO’s certification delivery. The Technical Specialist collaborates with all team members in the Quality and Accreditation department in addition to Certification Management, Partnerships and Programs, and Communications and Marketing teams and other teams to provide exemplary customer service and leadership. The Technical Specialist is also responsible for participating and interacting with other technical teams in the organic industry.

The salary range for this position is $66,000 to $75,000.
The total pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience and training, location, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographical differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position also qualifies for a hiring bonus of $5,000 gross. At Oregon Tilth, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the posted pay range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Sustainability, Food Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field
- 5 years’ professional experience directly related to administering an organic operation or program; reviewing, interpreting, applying organic program regulations; inspecting organic operations; reviewing organic certification applications for compliance; or participation in a related organic-centered occupation
- Project management experience across diverse teams
- Experience developing and delivering trainings to adult learners
- Experience participating in regional or national workgroups or committees
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a federal or state regulatory/licensing environment
- Experience delivering trainings about organic practices and/or the organic certification process
- Spanish language fluency

The Inspector travels to conduct interviews of operations, audits records, and provides technical assistance to support the needs of clients in the area of inspection. The Inspector works with certification staff to enhance the program through continuous improvement.

Temporary Inspector (Part-Time)

SUMMARY
The Temporary Part-Time Inspector works with certification staff and clients to assess overall compliance of operations to regulatory standards through on-site observations and evaluation. The Temporary Part-Time Inspector travels to conduct interviews of operations, audits records, and provides technical assistance to support the needs of clients in the area of inspection. The Temporary Part-Time Inspector works with certification staff to enhance the program through continuous improvement.
The salary for this position is $45 to $50 per hour depending on experience.
This is a temporary part time position with a maximum of 29 hours per week and ending December 31, 2024.
