Livestock Organic System Plan – OSP Forms & Updates

What To Know About Your Livestock Organic System Plan (OSP)

Summary: The Livestock Organic System Plan (OSP) is your farm or business blueprint for raising, managing, and marketing organic animals. To stay in compliance with USDA organic standards, you must keep your OSP up to date. Below you’ll find blank livestock OSP forms, guidance documents, and tools like the Dry Matter Intake (DMI) Calculator. Submit completed forms to your Oregon Tilth client service team.

What is the Livestock OSP?

The Organic System Plan (OSP) is the foundation of your organic certification. For livestock operations, your OSP outlines how you manage animal origin, feed, health care, living conditions, and handling practices in line with USDA National Organic Program (NOP) standards.

Keeping your OSP current is required for certification. If you make any changes to your operation—such as new livestock species, changes in feed sources, or updates to healthcare practices—you’ll need to update your OSP.

If you’re applying for certification for the first time, visit our organic certification application process page to get started.

Next Steps

  • Download the forms relevant to your operation.
  • Complete each form with accurate details about your livestock practices.
  • Submit your OSP updates to your Oregon Tilth client service team for review.
